I've had the privilege of working in market research since 1999. My journey began after three years of business studies in Germany, followed by a two-year service in the German navy. Throughout my career, I've gained experience in various industries, including Automotive, Hospitality, Retail, and, of course, Market Research.

My initial exposure to market research was as a field interviewer in Wuppertal, where I conducted interviews for a government tracker. This early experience kindled my interest in the field. In 2000, I relocated to London and began my career with a healthcare-oriented research company, starting as an interviewer and steadily rising to the position of General Manager. It was during this time that I discovered my true passion for healthcare and biotech data collection for market research.

Today, I'm proud to be pursuing this passion with Kudos Health and, since 2019, with HOK Research GmbH. At HOK, I have the privilege of collaborating with a remarkable team of interviewers, researchers, recruiters, and managers who share my dedication to delivering top-notch research.

Beyond the world of data and statistics, I channel my creativity into crafting film biographies and writing. I appreciate the opportunity to work closely with both the Berlin and London teams, enjoying the best of both worlds. London's fast-paced energy and Berlin's slightly more relaxed atmosphere provide me with the perfect balance.

My first insight into healthcare was when I started volunteering at a Swedish hospital from the age of 15. For five years, I played a role in patient care, which allowed me to see patients not just as medical cases but as whole individuals with unique needs. This holistic perspective has remained with me throughout my career and has greatly influenced my approach to our healthcare work and in particular our work with patients.

Meet Marella: Bridging Healthcare Insights with a Creative Perspective

I am Marella Fernandes, proudly serving as the Deputy Head of Healthcare at HOK Research and its sister company Kudos Health. My journey in market research commenced in 2010 when I embarked on a role as a researcher at GFK in London. Interestingly, my academic roots trace back to architecture, where I completed a master's degree.

Throughout my career in research, I've had the privilege of working on diverse projects. These include respondent recruitment for workshops, focus groups, and face-to-face interviews, as well as telephone depth moderation. My experience extends to conducting interviews with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) on topics like HIV medication and ADHD medication and engaging in conversations with a wide range of Life Science professionals to uncover insights into purchasing habits and opinions on branding and marketing materials for leaders in the life science industry.

My early roles as an interviewer and recruiter equipped me with a unique skill set, which I now leverage effectively in the management of pharmaceutical research projects. At present, I lead a team of expert recruiters, moderators, and CATI (Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing) executives. While I take on a managerial role, I remain actively involved in administering interviews for my projects. This hands-on approach, coupled with my management experience, allows me to moderate TDI (telephone depth interviews) with a touch of finesse.

Beyond the world of market research, I find joy in the theatre, enjoy sports, and cherish the company of friends. My multifaceted experiences and skills make me an asset in the field, and I'm passionate about delivering high-quality research for our clients at HOK Research.
